چکیده

Septoria tritici blotch (STB) caused by the fungal pathogen Zymoseptoria and powdery mildew (PM) Blumeria graminis f.sp ( Bgt ) are among forefront foliar diseases of wheat that lead to a significant loss grain yield quality. Resistance breeding aimed at developing varieties with inherent resistance STB PM has been most sustainable environment-friendly approach. In this study, 175 winter landraces historical cultivars originated from Nordic region were evaluated for adult-plant (APR) in Denmark, Estonia, Lithuania, Sweden. Genome-wide association study (GWAS) genomic prediction (GP) performed based on response field conditions using 7,401 single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers generated 20K SNP chip. Genotype-by-environment interaction was both disease scores. GWAS detected stable environment-specific quantitative trait locis (QTLs) chromosomes 1A, 1B, 1D, 2B, 3B, 4A, 5A, 6A, 6B 2A, 2D, 3A, 4B, 6B, 7A, 7B resistance. GP accuracy improved when assisted QTL as fixed effect. The GWAS-assisted ranged within 0.53–0.75 0.36–0.83 PM, respectively, across tested environments. This highlights valuable source APR PM. Such germplasm could be used identify introgress novel genes modern lines.

Genome-Wide Association Study of Septoria tritici Blotch Resistance in Ethiopian Durum Wheat Landraces

Septoria tritici blotch (STB) is a devastating fungal disease affecting durum and bread wheat cultivation worldwide. The identification, development, and employment of resistant wheat genetic material is the key to overcoming costs and limitations of fungicide treatments. The search for resistance sources in untapped genetic material may speed up the deployment of STB genetic resistance in the ...

Quantitative expression analysis of candidate genes for Septoria tritici blotch resistance in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

Septoria tritici blotch (STB), caused by the ascomycete fungus Mycosphaerella graminicola (asexual stage: Septoria tritici), is one of the most important foliar diseases of wheat. In this research, quantitative expression analysis of five candidate genes for the induction of resistance to STB (PR-1, Bsi, Msr, Per, and Ppi) was conducted in the wheat cultivars ‘Seri 82’ (susceptible) and ‘Fronta...

Comparison of Models and Whole-Genome Profiling Approaches for Genomic-Enabled Prediction of Septoria Tritici Blotch, Stagonospora Nodorum Blotch, and Tan Spot Resistance in Wheat.

The leaf spotting diseases in wheat that include Septoria tritici blotch (STB) caused by , Stagonospora nodorum blotch (SNB) caused by , and tan spot (TS) caused by pose challenges to breeding programs in selecting for resistance. A promising approach that could enable selection prior to phenotyping is genomic selection that uses genome-wide markers to estimate breeding values (BVs) for quantit...

Ranking Quantitative Resistance to Septoria tritici Blotch in Elite Wheat Cultivars Using Automated Image Analysis.

Quantitative resistance is likely to be more durable than major gene resistance for controlling Septoria tritici blotch (STB) on wheat. Earlier studies hypothesized that resistance affecting the degree of host damage, as measured by the percentage of leaf area covered by STB lesions, is distinct from resistance that affects pathogen reproduction, as measured by the density of pycnidia produced ...

Partial Resistance to Septoria Tritici Blotch (Mycosphaerella graminicola) in Wheat Cultivars Arina and Riband.

ABSTRACT Partial resistance to Septoria tritici blotch (STB) and its inheritance were investigated in a doubled-haploid population of a cross between cvs. Arina and Riband. The former has good partial resistance whereas the latter is susceptible. In adult plant trials in polytunnels, STB disease scores were negatively correlated with heading date. Resistance was not specific to any of the three...
